The office
APE Ingeniería Cía. Ltda. is a consulting studio dedicated to structural design, research and analysis of buildings and civil works.
APE Ingeniería works primarily with architecture studios and developers. Each structure is resolved for its project, by analysis rather than by repeating a standard detail.
Ecuador is a high seismic-hazard country. The core of the practice is earthquake engineering: seismic design, nonlinear analysis and performance-based design, under national and international codes.

Nicolás Mora Bowen
General Manager
MSc in Earthquake-Resistant Structures (USFQ) and PhD candidate in Engineering Sciences (Universidad de los Andes, Chile).
Faculty member at PUCE, USFQ and Universidad de los Andes, with international publications in nonlinear finite-element modeling and computational earthquake engineering (COMPDYN 2021).
Develops the office’s own structural-analysis tooling (meshing, nonlinear finite elements and post-processing) used in daily practice.
Academia & research
APE’s practice is connected to research: teaching at three universities, thesis supervision, and publications in computational mechanics applied to earthquake engineering.
The methods taught and researched (nonlinear finite elements, fiber models, performance-based evaluation) are the same ones applied to the design and audit of real structures.
Open source & in-house tooling
In-house nonlinear finite-element libraries and OpenSees tooling, developed and maintained as open source.
